Technical comments:

Most of the faults with which cosmetics are concerned, i.e. dry, rough, hard skin and atrophy of the sweat glands, are due to a deficiency of vitamin A. This is why Vitamin A is so important to so many skin conditions. Thinning of the skin is due mainly to a deficiency of Vitamin A which is why this vitamin is so good in preventing wrinkles. Also, as exposure to the sun can deplete Vitamin A very quickly, this explains why too much sun can cause premature aging of the skin.

Studies have shown that Vitamin A is readily absorbed by the skin when applied topically. It has also been shown that when Vitamin A is applied with a combination of Vitamin E, its absorption is enhanced. Vitamin E 'protects' Vitamin A in the skin.

Vitamin A applied directly to the skin undoubtedly plays a part in the prevention of eczema. It also has a place in the prevention of 'residual' or 'detrital' dermatitis.

External applications of vitamins

The role of Vitamin A for the health and appearance of the skin is well documented and deficiency will result in characteristic lesions, dryness and 'brown' spots. In fact the skin is often the first indicator of a dietary deficiency of Vitamin A. This may be due to a lack of the Vitamin in the Diet, but also due to a possible absorption deficiency. Certainly it is clear that a long term deficiency of Vitamin A can lead to more serious, dry conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.

Applying Vitamin A and related nutrients topically will more readily overcome this deficiency far more effectively than oral doses.

Ingredients:

Natural Vitamin A: Known as the 'Skin Strengthener.' It is particularly good for dry skin and after exposure to the sun. Absorbed easily, it helps keep skin soft, but firm and elastic. By maintaining the skin's natural water proofing properties, it combats sun, air pollution and dryness.

D Panthenol: Found in every living cell, it's a normal constituent of healthy skin, which is why deficiencies have been shown to cause lesions to the skin surface. When applied directly, it penetrates well, leaving a light, smooth non-sticky feel. It's not greasy' irritating or sensitising and is particularly good for burns, wounds and allergic dermatitis.

Vitamin E: compliments the work of Vitamin A, helping to protect against ultraviolet rays. As an anti-oxidant, it plays a vital role in neutralising harmful free radicals - a by-product of increasing pollution. In this way it helps skin regeneration to fight weakness and thinning that are major causes of ageing and wrinkles.

Evening Primrose Oil: Taken daily in capsule form by millions of people, its linoleic and gamma linoleic acids are also vital for the skin. These two fatty acids are normally converted into prostaglandins which play an important role in skin health.
